Thailand Visa on Arrival (VoA) Rules for Indian Tourists – May 2025 Updates
Thailand remains one of the most popular travel destinations for Indian tourists, thanks to its stunning beaches, vibrant cities, and hassle-free Visa on Arrival (VoA) facility. However, recent updates in May 2025 have introduced some key changes, including stricter financial proof checks and revised immigration procedures.
Here’s everything Indian travellers need to know before flying to Thailand:
Reintroduction of Proof of Funds Requirement
As of May 2025, Thailand has reinstated the requirement that applicants for tourist visas provide proof of income. This regulation, which was temporarily suspended in November 2023 to encourage travel during the pandemic, has been reinstated and will now demand that anyone coming on a tourist visa demonstrate that they have the means to support themselves while on vacation in the country.
Applicants will be required to provide proof that they have a minimum of 20,000 Thai Baht (about USD 550) in available funds.
New Digital Visa on Arrival (VoA) Form (Optional)
Thailand now offers an online pre-arrival VoA form (similar to an e-VoA) to speed up immigration.
How it works:
- Fill the form 48 hours before departure via the official Thai immigration website.
- Get a QR code to show at the VoA counter.
- Reduces waiting time but is not mandatory—traditional paper forms are still accepted.
Visa on Arrival Fee Remains 2,000 THB (Cash Only)
The fee is unchanged, but only Thai Baht (cash) is accepted—no card/UPI payments.
Documents Required for VoA (May 2025)
Indian tourists must present:
Passport – Valid for 6+ months with 2 blank pages.
Return/Onward Ticket – Proof of departure within 15 days.
Proof of Accommodation – Hotel booking or sponsor’s invitation letter.
Proof of Funds – 10,000 THB per person (cash). (Newly announced)
Completed VoA Form – Available at the airport or online (digital option).
