Malaysia Visa Update : Visa- free for indian passport holders will end on 1 january 2027 .A visa will be requried for all arrivals from this date
As of late 2023, Malaysia has introduced a visa-free entry policy for Indian citizens, valid for a stay of up to 30 days. This visa exemption is for tourism, business, and social purposes and has been extended until December 31, 2026.
While a visa is not required in advance, travelers must meet certain conditions and have the following documents ready for inspection by immigration officials upon arrival:
-
A valid passport: Your passport must have a minimum of six months of validity remaining from your date of entry.
-
A confirmed return or onward flight ticket: You must show proof of departure from Malaysia within the 30-day visa-free period.
-
Proof of accommodation: A confirmed hotel booking for your stay is required.
-
Proof of sufficient funds: You must be able to demonstrate that you have adequate financial resources to cover your stay in Malaysia.
-
Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC): Indian nationals are required to complete the MDAC online within three days before their arrival. This is a mandatory requirement.
It is crucial to be aware that while the visa-free policy is in place, immigration officials have the final say on your entry. The High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur has issued advisories warning that some Indian citizens have been denied entry for failing to meet the above requirements, particularly the lack of sufficient funds or a genuine return ticket. Therefore, it is essential to have all your documents in order to avoid any issues upon arrival.
